My Weight Loss Dream A-Z Blogging Challenge: C Is For Calorie Counting

Welcome to da"slimming world c"y three of my A-Z blogging challenge. After yesterday and venting my anger over before and after magazine photos we are talking about the one part of weight loss. Calorie counting.

When you look at the science behind weight loss it is all about reducing your calories. And if you look at every type of weight loss it is only successful with a reduction in calories. If your body shape says that if you eat 1300 calories a day you will lose a pound a week thats what you need to do. Whether you do this by burning lots of your calories or by eating less the result will still be the same.

Diets like Weight Watchers, Slimming World & Rosemary Conely do exactly this. But they take away the horrible daunting task of counting calories and leave you with foods that you can eat in endless amounts. And as someone that has recently calorie counted it is hell.

The idea that if you even if you have a slice of apple, you have to put into Google to check how many calories it is. Its not so bad if you are getting someone else to do it for you, or if you are eating processed foods, but for everyday use its hard work.

But if you want to be able to eat out and need to be able to stick to 1200 calories a day, on those big nights out you can just factor in more exercise. In the old days or with people that seek nutritionists it is always done to calorie counting.

Not ideal, but still an easy old fashioned way of achieving it.
The only time I really enjoy calorie counting is in the summer. It will be 40 degrees and all I want to do is eat icecreams and do lots of swimming. My icecream of the day will easily be around the 400 calories mark for the day. However when I factor into this that I also burn 6o0 calories from swimming, my icecream puts me on a minus. Meaning that if I am wanting to stick to 1200 calories a day my reward for swimming has given me 1800 calories or 1400 after my icecream. So no wonder when I do have my pool days and also enjoy a pizza I don’t have a weight gain.

I would recommend if you are struggling to lose weight to count all of your calories for a week so that you can see exactly what you are doing and develop your own diet plan of action.
