Buyer Beware looks like a mix of horror dropes, though, unlike a parody / satire - the movie really tries to make something out of these tropes. No great CGI, no great actors ... or even really scary scenes. But, for me, it's still entertaining, I'm interested in how things will turn out, even if it's a bit predictable. Perhaps most importantly I like the idea, just want to see a sequel, because the location is there. It could easily compete with today's Hollywood mainstream jump scare festival. Mostly because, unlike jump scare holidays that have nothing in common, the idea of ghosts in the real world and their applications - is something new.
Most of us see one-off films that focus on a specific topic. And, as much as they try to franchise it - they only have CGI to save (and, sometimes, the actors). Nor is this budget deduction necessary. Sometimes you see horror and it doesn't work, because ... it's empty. But this movie has a setting, and hopefully they will develop it.
